Sustainable Cafe

We are proud to have Mid-City Kitchen at The Phoenix Plaza.  Please join us for the grand opening in November 2009! The folks at MCulinary take detailed steps and progressive care about where and how their food is grown.  This plays a significant and predominate role in the quality that they strive for.  They buy local produce from local farms that use recycled and composted green waste.

They took great care while constructing Mid-City Kitchen to minimize impacts to the environment  by using sustainable bamboo flooring, recycled glass countertops, pressed sustainable Kirei Board Bar tops (sugar cane fiber normally burned after use) and low voltage lighting throughout the facility.  They also have a custom organic vegetable and herb garden grown from recycled composted green and paper waste.  This is also used to make organic fertilizer for their garden.

Their coffee is roasted locally which saves on distribution costs and minimizes the over-all carbon footprint of the facility.  All supplies are compostable and/or made from recycled material.  Their trash bags can be composted in the ground in 45 days after disposal.  They build awareness in all the products that they offer and believe that these concepts are the key to a sustained future.
